To help motivate conversation, awareness, and change, Music: Deconstructed produced See Better, Hear Better, Know Better: A Two-Day Online Event on Deconstructing Race and Gender Biases in Music. The event, which took place on October 2nd and 3rd of 2020, featured Keynote speakers Terri Lyne Carrington and Camille Thurman, Professors Ellie Hisama, Stephanie Jensen-Moulton, and Ashleigh Gordon, up-and-coming artists Veronica Swift, Tyson Jackson and Sasha Berliner, current university and conservatory students, and a student-led discussion, to engage with the gender and race discourses in music. Internationally, we had over 250 people register. In mid-October, we incorporated our organization, becoming Music: Deconstructed LLC.
